With the rapid advancement in technology in the last decade, there’s very little that one cannot accomplish with a stable internet connection, access to a search engine, and determination. Highly technical feats such as internet hacking that were only seen on television ten years ago can easily be done in fifteen minutes today with a minimal understanding of technology.
So, what does this mean in terms of your cyber security? Well, unless you’re someone with top-priority government secrets, we’d say that you’ll be well off with just an anti-virus and a VPN subscription.
Some of you might be skeptical about the VPN, but trust us when we say that we have a very good reason behind this suggestion. VPN protects your privacy, i.e., your browsing activities, from hackers, marketing websites, government agencies, and particularly nosy neighbors.
However, today we’ll be talking about the main feature of VPN: masking your IP address from the internet and connecting your device to the internet through a different IP address.
Why is this needed, though?
Well, that’s what we are here to talk about. In this blog, we’re going to talk about IP addresses: what they are, how you can find out the IP address of another device through text messages, and how you can hide your IP address from the various safety hazards of the digital world.
How to Find IP Address from Text Messages
Are you still wondering whether or not it is possible to find an IP address from text message? Well, wonder no more. We’re here to tell you that doing so is not only possible but also quick and easy. The most accessible, simple, and efficient tool for your task is IP Grabber, which is an online web tool.
Let’s talk about just how you can make this tool work for yourself:
Step 1: On your smartphone/computer, go to your web browser and enter the words IP Grabber, and the tool will appear.
Step 2: On the page that appears, you’ll see an explanation of how the tool works, and two buttons under that. Tap on the first button that says Generate IP Logging URL.
Step 3: When you’ll do that, a box will appear at the top with the words Your IP Logging URL and Tracking Key. Copy the URL and note down your tracking key for future reference.
Step 4: If the URL is long enough to cause an inconvenience for you, you can easily shorten it as well. After copying the URL and the tracking key, tap on the OK button at the bottom of the Your IP Logging URL and Tracking Key box.
Step 5: Then, in the explanation paragraph, locate the sentence If you’d like to shorten your IP logging link in order to hide/mask it Click here.
The last two words of this sentence on the IP Grabber page contain a hyperlink that will take you to another site where you can shorten your link.
Step 6: You’ll be taken to another page which will contain a blank saying Enter a URL that you would like to shorten. Paste the original URL and tap on the small button underneath it that says Shorten URL.
Step 7: Copy the short URL from there, and go to your chats with the person whose IP address you’re trying to find out.
Step 8: Here comes the tricky part. You need to make them click on that link if you are to see their IP address.
Whether or not they’ll do it depends almost entirely on the person you’re talking to, and their knowledge of the technological world.
If they are not that interested or informed about technical tricks, you might just be able to sneak this one past them. All you need to do is ask them to click on the link, and say that it’ll take them to a surprise/something interesting/something they like.
However, if they are interested in the tech field, they’ll probably instantly realize what you’re trying to do.
Step 9: Assuming that you were successful in making them click on that link, let’s move on to what you’ll need to do next.
Go to the website again, and this time, click on the second button on the explanation box that says Lookup IP logs.
There you go. Now you can easily see the IP address of the person who has clicked on that link.
